description: | The purpose of the present project is to describe the tonal and sound field structures of the works of Dmitri Shostakovich, Lepo Sumera, and Erkki-Sven Tüür applying different analytical methods of graphic representation (Schenkerian method, sonic design). Since the works of Dmitri Shostakovich, Lepo Sumera, and Erkki-Sven Tüür are not much analysed applying graphic methods, the analysis could give new and valuable information about the works of the aforementioned composers. The second goal of the project is to investigate the different application possibilities of Schenkerian method and sonic design to the works of the 20th century composers. The project will conclude with two studies of the the piano cycle of 24 preludes and fugues of Dmitri Shostakovich, and of the music of Lepo Sumera and Erkki-Sven Tüür. |
