The main objective of the investigation will be to test firstly in Estonia new introduced from West European countries and from Russia dwarfing and medium vigour plum and sweet cherry clonal rootstocks.Growth vigour, winter hardiness, resistance to main fungal diseases, productivity, fruit quality and fruit biochemical content will be tested.Also their compatibility with the most cultivating in Estonia cultivars,perspectives and propagation possibilities will be evaluated.Results of research will allow to increase the production efficiency as well as to decrease the labor costs, shorten the time until bearing and improve the fruit quality. Consequently, using of dwarfing and medium vigour rootstocks will help to expand significantly plum and sweet cherry growing in home and in commercial orchards. |
