title: Application of Fuzzy System Theory in Power System Optimization and Reliability Estimation
reg no: ETF6762
project type: Estonian Science Foundation research grant
subject: 2.5. Power Engineering
status: accepted
institution: TTU Faculty of Power Engineering
head of project: Mati Valdma
duration: 01.01.2006 - 31.12.2009
description: The possibilities of application the fuzzy information in power system optimization and their reliability estimation will be studied in the project. The goal of study is to develop the theory of power systems and to increase their efficiency and reliability. At that the fuzzy information will be treated as the most general form of information. The main subproblems, that will be studied in the project, are: 1) Optimal load scheduling and unit commitment of power systems considering uncertain and fuzzy information (fuzzy optimization); 2) Estimation the reliability and security of power system considering uncertain and fuzzy information (fuzzy reliability); 3) Representation and forecasting of fuzzy information (fuzzy statistics).

The duration of the project is four years. The project opens a new research field and the broad possibilities for the applied researches, doctoral theses included. The project has a great importance for Estonian and others power systems. Three doctoral theses will be written. Main scientific results of the project will be published as papers in scientific journals and as monograph.
