In the present project, relationship of spatial attention with lateral interactions between adjacently located stimuli in visual perception will be studied. The study originates from recently proposed hypothesis that the size of focus of spatial attention as well as zones of lateral interactions are determined by sizes of receptive fields at a certain level of visual information processing. The results of experiments run by the applicant seem to contradict with that idea. The objective is to find a model of spatial attention that would be consistent with results of psychophysical experiments and currently known neurobiological data. |
