title: Investigation of thermodynamics of defects in II-VI compounds in purpose to grow the crystals with variable type of conductivity
reg no: ETF5156
project type: Estonian Science Foundation research grant
subject: 1.8. Molecular Biology
status: completed
institution: Tallinn Technical University
head of project: Kalju Lott
duration: 01.01.2002 - 31.12.2005
description: The purpose of this grant is to work out the method for n- or p-type crystal growth at the conditions of coexistence of two phases. For this purposes the defect thermodynamics of crystals will be investigated at the conditions close to superplastic deformation and abnormal crystal growth based on the formation of sublattice of dopant. The main methods for investigation are the method of measurement of high temperature electrical conductivity and EPR. They give data for description of the reactions between defects at high temperatures and at frozen-in condition. Necessary parameters for the crystal growth with desired properties will be determined, using information from experiments and from calculations near the conditions of phase transitions and appropriate component vapour partial pressures. The results will be used in nanotechnological, fuel cell optoelectronic and spintronics applications.
