| description: | The post-genomic process design is a novel concept in food- bio- and environmental technology based on the techno-physiological characterization of the organisms (micro-organisms, plants and animals) and studies of the factors causing and affecting them. The aim of the planned work is the development of the concept into well working technology integrating the genome-related databases, determination of techno-physiological characteristics of raw materials with process modeling and product design in food and environmental biotechnology. We have developed original cultivation methods A-stat and auxo-accelerostat, and modeling methods to characterize the microorganisms and related bioprocesses, the user-friendly biocontrol software ¿BioXpert¿ which will be integrated into post-genomic process design technology to increase the efficiency of the process development and optimization as well as to ensure the healthy food and environment. The results of planned work can be directly used in food technology and solving the environmental problems caused by it as well as in all other biotechnological processes. The project is carried out in Institute of Chemistry of TTU in collaboration with Prof. T. Paalme from the Institute of Food Technology of TTU. |
