subject: 1.2. Applied Mathematics
status: accepted

duration: 01.01.2004 - 31.12.2007
description: Problems of optimization of elastic-plastic beams, plates and shells are considered. Dynamic plastic behaviour of structures with weakening cracks and flaws is studied.
Minimum weight designs of elastic-plastic annular plates are established for given maximal deflection making use of the variational methods of the theory of optimal control.
The concept of an ideal elastic-plastic body is used, provided the material obeys von Mises yield condition. Optimal designs corresponding to the minimum of maximal residual deflection are established for the fixed material amount.
Optimization of plastic square plates subjected to dynamic loading and dynamic plastic behaviour of ductile tubes with cracks accounting for shear stresses are treated.
A finite element based technique is developed for calculation of axisymmetric elastic-plastic plates subjected to quasi-static loading.
The stability of the crack propagation in an elastic-plastic beam is studied making use of the concept of the J-integral and tearing modulus. Cantilever beams and cylindrical shells subjected to the impulsive loading are considered.
